Rule of Thumb #1: Candle should be approximately 1cm less than the sleeve/cylinder in diameter. 

Rule of Thumb #2: Candle should be approximately 3-5cm shorter in height than the top of the cylinder/sleeve. 

Rule of Thumb #3: Always consider the height and width of your candle in its holder when selecting the height of your glass sleeve of cylinder.
